DAFFIAMA-BUSSEI- ISSAH DISTRICT TO BENEFIT FROM 150,000 CASHEW SEEDLINGS
The District Chief Executive in Daffiama Bussie Issa District of the Upper West Region, Hon. Nadi Imoro Sanda has made cashew plantation a top priority to improve economic empowerment in the District. He has distributed over 143,000 polyclonol cashew seedlings to farmers in the District to start plantation.
The District targets over 7,000 farmers for this year. The pilot project which begun last year involved over 1,200 farmers within the district.
The District Chief Executive called on farmers to make good use of the project which is part of the Government’s Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), stating that he is optimistic of the project profitability to help economic empowerment of farmers. He further estimated the revenue generation capacity of cashew to the District Assembly which if fully implemented will increase their revenue by over 200%.
The District Agric Director, Mr. Salifu Mahama however thanked the DCE for his effort while assuring him their commitment to ensuring the success of the project in the District.
Farmers in the District also expressed their gratitude to the DCE and further assured their readiness to adopt cashew plantation given its profitable propensity.
