GHANA YOUTH FEDERATION (GYF) HOLDS ACCOUNTABILITY FORUM ON EDUCATION
Ghana Youth Federation in collaboration with FOSDA organised a youth forum in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital themed ” Accountability, the bedrock of our educational development”.
The forum brought together different stakeholders of the educational sector including teachers, students , parents, administrators, etc, to elicit strategic ways of improving educational performances.
The Upper West Region have placed among the bottom three (3) worst performing regions in education. The regional BECE pass rate was 42% in 2018 which falls below the national average of 50% .
Speaking at the forum deputy Upper West Regional minister, Issahaque Chinie expressed his outfit readiness to improve educational performance , ” saying discipline is very essential to success. This he entreated parents, teachers and students to be disciplined in their respective roles which contribute to performance.
Other participants also shared their narratives on how accountability can effectively improve educational standards in the Upper West Region.
The most common of perceptions raised to ensure good performance was discipline.
